The New York Jets never gave Tebow a chance to succeed or fail and that is all the former Gator quarterback ever wanted. Tim Tebow did not ask for a cult following in the NFL, but that is what has developed after his success last year in Denver. The New York Jets knew what they were getting when they acquired Tebow and Rex Ryan has handled this situation worse than Mitt Romney's campaign handled Ohio.
Why did the Jets acquire Tim Tebow in the first place. Rex Ryan has never used him in a way he could be successful and as bad as Mark Sanchez has played there have been plenty of opportunities to play Tebow. The only way the wildcat formation works is if the defense believes the offense has a threat of passing the football. The play calling for Tebow has been horrific and there has been no rhyme or reason to when he plays.
Was Tim Tebow right to tell his coaches when or how he would play?
As a former coach if I id not know he back story I would say cut him immediately and Rex Ryan probably should because part of his problem as the coach of the New York Jets is a lack of discipline. Even if Tim Tebow had a good reason which i believe he does Ryan should send him packing to show who is in charge in the locker room. Pete Carroll may be a Rah Rah cheerleader type coach, but he can be as ruthless as Bill Belichek when it comes to discipline.
Tim Tebow is not a running back and if the New York Jets wanted to use him as a running back that should have been clear up front. Tebow has been the up man on the punt team and never complained, he sat back and supported Mark Sanchez when no one else wanted to and when they benched Mark Sanchez for Greg McElroy Tim Tebow had every right to be pissed. If he was the second string quarterback all year why did he not get a chance to end a miserable year for the Jets? This undermines every other position on the team too if the back up quarterback really isn't the back up.
When Tim Tebow told the Jets he wasn't going to be their sideshow I say good for him. I never believed in his throwing motion or that he would be a good NFL quarterback, but the way Rex Ryan has handled Tebow is a disgrace to coaches and to professionals such as Tebow. Tebow put his heart into being the best player he can be trusting his coaches along the way. Unfortunately some coaches like Rex Ryan do not understand their word is more important than any scheme they design for Sundays.
Tim Tebow will not be a New York Jet next year and if I were his agent I would take two years to go to the Canadian Football League to work on his throwing motion because at age 25 he has plenty of time to play in the NFL, but if he has another year similar to 2012 the NFL will not have plenty of time for Tim Tebow.
